Just to be correct technically, it�s 4130 steel. You don�t want more than
.30% carbon for welding.

4340 has more carbon (30%) than 4130 so weldment has higher chance of
cracking after cooling. You want to keep carbon content in steel for welding
below .30%, hence 4130 is better choice. 4 ... |
