I have 2. Both on rotax 582's with 3 blade warp drives. Love them. Never
heard of an in-flight failure of the RK-400. Only problem is when the engine
quits it keeps turning and adds a lot of drag.

Yes, that’s what's happening. It's leaking past the crank seals into the crankcase and getting mixed with the incoming fuel/oil.

Be sure to take out both plugs and have someone really spin the engine. The spark on these things is hard to see. Ground it out of the light. Don’t ask how I know.

Points or ducati ignition?
Check that there are no restrictions in your muffler. Had something similar
happen to me once & it was a big mud dobber nest in the muffler.

The rubber grommet only is correct for a top mount. I believe you can get a
copy of the installation instructions online. If not then I'll copy mine &
email them to you.
