Another way to attach the nose strut is with a tapered pin. You will still need a hole in the firewall if you want to remove the strut for repairs or replacement in the future.

You can see the glued tip-up canopy on my 9-A at the Sarasota-Bradenton
airport (SRQ) in Sarasota, FL almost anytime.
