To compare the "system", you need to add the governor cost.

Add $1500 to your $7900, and I would guess that a three blade Hartzell is about the same as the three blade MT prop in 2010 $$ ...

At 5 mS/div on the scope... could you be seeing some 60 Hz pickup? - which would be just over 3 divisions.

I don't think so, since this came from
AC 20-37D AIRCRAFT METAL PROPELLER MAINTENANCE
on care of metal props - note the bit on no post-manufacture accuracy.

It might be hidden in the SAE ...
