I used "Fiberfax" insulation. You can buy it from Aircraft Spruce (part number 05-02678). I attached it to the firewall flange with red high temp RTV. It is very thin so I was able to put it ...

Sorry guys - I should proof read better. It was Merle Williams who helped me with the Kitfox (Norm Williams is who I bought my C170 from).
