Sherwin Williams Polane. It is bulletproof. It is the stuff they used to paint computer cases with. Impossible to chip or scratch.

This appears to be a SCR mounted on the firewall of my 1985 CJ. Can someone please explain it's purpose? I am in the process of replacing my generator with an alternator.
