The exact meteorological conditions were outside airtemp 50F, high humidity. Also included was a prolonged low power descent. Application of carb heat cured the problem.

The carburetor has an operating spec of +10C to +40C. The manual calls for carb heat at anything below that range. This is not for carb ice. It is to insure that the carb itself is operating properly. ... |

The PF was introduced as a high power engine version not a long life version, if you use the horsepower.
But given the choice, I will take all the power I can reasonably get. I currently fly a Yak50 ... |

Increasing the horse power in an engine simply by inceasing the boost is not the best way to go. Especially in an aircraft engine.
