I have read the tips in 2015 for the hose updates and wondered if anyone has any new info or solution for replacing the original hoses. Any help appreciated.

Start with a low tail landing for best aerodynamic breaking and then on and off squeezes on the brakes.
A constant hold on the brakes can cause the wheels to lock up. (Just my thoughts)

easiest way is to take one tappet cover off. If it has an adjustment nut and screw it is mechanical, Hydraulic lifters have no adjuster

The only instrument that is handy is the oil pressure gauge !! and that is only for a comparison - the reading doesn't matter . no need for calibration.
Everything else is covered by the nomal sense ...
