Kolb, Kolbra, Twinstar, Slingshot, etc... I know what the Ultrastar is
because I own one, and the current models are described on TNK's website,
but I'm in the dark about many of the older models... is there any website
that describes (or anybody willing to summarize) the various models and the
differences?

No one else seems to be responding so I will tell you what I know. You will
also need to check the New Kolb web site at http://207.234.166.41/

The MKIIIc is the standard big Kolb with side by side seating and I think it
is a upgraded version of the discontinued MKII.

The MKIII Xtra is a Barnaby Wilifan (spelling?) improvement of the MKIIIc
for more speed and comfort/room.

The Kolbra is the same as a MKIII but has tandem seating. It is a bit faster
and doesn't have flaps unless you go with electric flaps like Paul P. has
done. It was originally built as a training aircraft.

The Slingshot is a short wing MKIII with tandem seating. It is much faster
and sporty. It was designed as a Kolb for GA pilots. I think the cockpit is
a much tighter fit than the Kolbra especially in the back.

All the above share the same wing structure but the Slingshot wings are
shorter.

That idea got me interested, so I downloaded all the various model Kolb
pictures I could find last night and will be putting up a page on that soon.

Steve:

Yep!

If you haven't flown it, you have not experienced the thrill of Kolb
flight in its entirety. The FF is a real hot rod, a scaled down Sling
Shot. I thoroughly enjoy every hour I get to fly one.

Here is an old webpage I had up for a long time about the Kolb line of products.

I did this back when I was researching which model I would build.

Just an added note John, The Firefly on floats is more like a nose dragger when you are not in flight and although I have not flown w/wheels, Bryan Melborn tells me that the floats hardly slow the little sucker down.

Thanks to all who responded (esp. John W. for the pdf!). I have a much
better understanding of the model differences now. Only problem now is I
want one of each...
