Ray,

 Somewhere in my archives I have a picture of an Ultrastar on floats.  According to Ron Louck who mounted and flew the US it flew very nice and was  quick off the water. No matter what you do you will have a lot of water on the  prop. Astandard wood blade will not hack it for long. In the case of the firefly  I use a Kiev and it holds up well with no damage.

 I would suggest the Czeck float available at Skyshops . They are about  28lbs and lightest you will find.

 The US poses some interesting challenges for floats bukt it can be  done.
