Hope this helps those interested in having a personal gps locator transponder. You have to re-register your plt with noaa every two years. The batteries have to be replaced in my unit every ten years. Like I said, you have to be concious to use it.

As you may recall, I made an offer to this group for handheld radios recently. I was also asked about the PLB's. The supplier does not currently carry them but I mentioned the growing desire for them and they have assured me they will look into adding them to their product line. If they do indeed decide to carry them, I will offer them to this group at my cost.

Tim & all
I just rang and the difference between the two models is that the $699 one
has it's own GPS receiver. The slightly cheaper unit requires a gps serial
feed. Tim, let me know if you manage to get a deal on these units as I am in
for one.
