For those of you out there who aren't aware of it, Don Pearsall and I have been the co-administrators for the kitfox for a lot of years. After long period of discussions between Don and I, I'm posting this message to announce my retirement from the duties of Kitfox List Administration. Many years ago Don and I simultaneously assumed the management of the list. Previous to that Don hosted it and Jim Crowder was the moderator. It even goes much farther back than that, but that's another story. It's been a very rewarding job that has led us through several challenges, including the complete loss of list functions due to server problems, changes to hosting entities, and finally to where we made the decision to move to Matt Dralle's Matronics where things have been more automated and very stable. It was a lot of work making the changes, but the result was worth the effort.
It was a couple of years ago that Don and I started talking about retiring. Don sold his project a few years ago and he no longer has a Kitfox and has been spending his time, money, and effort as list admin out of the kindness of his heart. I'm still flying my Kitfox and have no immediate intention of changing that, but I've been doing this for a very long time and we've both decided that the time has come for us to gracefully bow out and leave the administrative functions to some new blood.
Shortly you'll be receiving an introduction letter from long-time list members Guy Buchanan and Michael Gibbs as new list administrators. They're both very capable guys and I have no doubt that they'll do an effective and fair job in the management process. I have no doubt that you will all give them the full support that you've given to Don and I.
Best Regards,

Deke and Don,
I am a long time (mostly lurker) and am off and on the list from time to time to see what is happening. I am happy I was on when you sent this post.
I understand that doing the job you have been doing for years is no easy project. I ,for one, appreciate that this list was available when I built my bird and is still there when there are problems. For this I thank you most sincerely. You have done extremely well.
For our incoming, you have big shoes to fill,Guy and Mike, but considering your input in the past I feel sure you will grow into them. Thanks for picking up the ball. Long live the Kitfox List!!!!!!!

Deke and Don,
I think I have been on this list for 9 years. It has been and is a great list! A good part of its success is due to your efforts.
Guy and Michael will no doubt get tested, but they are already well respected on the list.
Thank you very much and enjoy your well deserved retirement.
Randy

Deke and Don,
Thank you for your many years of service. Your leadership has proved to be the unifying force that makes this list first class in every respect. Good luck in the future and I hope to see you at AirVenture or Sun and Fun for many years to come.

Guy and Michael,
Welcome to your new tasks as List Administrator. The time, and everything else involved in doing the job, is daunting. Your volunteerism is appreciated. I know first hand the help the folks on the list provide to each other and with your leadership I'm sure it will continue to be the excellent venue that it is.
You have tough shoes to fill , but as they say in the best aviation comedy ever made, "We're all counting on you!"

Don and Deke,
It's been a long and good journey. Don, I met you once at S-N-F (you don't remember that) and Deke, I remember when your name used to be Darrel. Thanks to both of you for all your hard work.

Wow. I guess the cat's out of the bag. I guess I'd better figure out how all this stuff works! I've got my uniform, boots, and billy; all that's left on order is the e-Tazer. After Michael and I come to agreement we'll be sending out the new list of rules, punishments and fines for you miscreants.

Deke and Don,
All too often it is the "behind the scenes" people that do the most work and receive the least thanks. So, from me, thank you both. I hope you both will continue to contribute to the list, as it has become (imho) the "go to" place for all questions Kitfox. And then some. It is nice to know that no matter what one comes across, from a mod.1 to a mod.7, someone on the list has the answer. You can be proud of what you have accomplished here. Admittedly, I receive far more from the list than I contribute, but that's because I'm still wet behind the ears with my Kitfox. I wish you both the best of luck and future success.
Best Regards,
Greg Gerace
