Today at about 1230 local time, A new Lancair was born. The Lancair IV
that I spent most of the past two and a half years helping with had an
uneventful first flight today. I think the impact on me was even greater
than when my Model IV Kitfox first flew. The first landing was at Rancho
Murietta with the first five hours to be flown there over the next day or
two and then home to Cameron park for the remaining 20.

Congrats Lowell. I know you've worked really hard on it and now, well
shortly anyway, perhaps you can get some stick time? Does this mean you're
an invested part owner?

So are you part-owner in this bird, or were you assisting the builder/owner?

Congratulations, Lowell. You, builders, will always enjoy something I
never did; see your creation fly. Enjoy!

Deke,

No financial interest except I was the hired hand. In fact, the Kitfox in
my hangar is all there is in aviation for me. I might have blinders on, but
I love what it does and to fly it, and it provided the link to some of the
besr friends I have ever had. I was surprised by my reaction as it departed
as it has always been someone else's airplane. It was pretty awesome. Brad
Jeppesen who lives across the street is the owner and we got pretty close
during the build. It will be his to enjoy. And I may fly in it someday.
They are quite unforgiving airplanes. He'll need a "few" hours before I
will accept ride.

one of the best attributes of my kitfox is that it cost less than the prop on my friends Lancair 4. Not trying to diss the lancair. It does make some peoples socks go up and down.
