|
|
Question for the group:
I am just getting started putting my new engine (912S) on my 701. On
reading the Rotax Alert Service Bulletin I find my brand new engine came
delivered with the fuel pump that must be replaced. Do I have to eat
the cost of a new fuel pump or will Rotax or Zenith supply it?
I will call Zenith tomorrow but am curious if others have had this issue
and how it was resolved.

Dan
Usually when Rotax will pay for the Repair/Modification they say so right in
the Service Bulletin. Such as the Stator and oil Tank Dip Stick Bullitens of
the past. Although these were for my 912Ul 80 HP engine they paid for the
part and in the case of the Stator ( very expensive ) they also paid for
renting the tools to do the job. No labor reimbersement though. Not a bad
deal!
I didn't read the Fuel Pump Bulletin in detail because it didn't apply to my
engine, so I don't know if they said anything about paying for that one.
It seems that your engine should be under warranty. I would talk with the
North American Rotax Distributor.

Dan,
I had the same issue. Lockwood promptly sent a new fuel pump and the
paperwork for the pump that was covered under warrantee.

Anyone else having to replace the fuel pump per Rotax Alert Service
Bulleting, Lockwood Aviation needs to be contacted and they will replace
the pump at your cost. However, you receive your money back when you
return the old pump to them.
