Is there anywhere for an ol' boy to land his Pietenpol on the grass at Boo ? She just doesn' t like to land on the hard surface.

Chuck,
Runway 14-32 is grass. Be great to see your plane. What engine do you have. Going to Brodhead? I may start out tomorrow from Phoenix in my Tailwind, for Boo. George

The grass near the highway side is nice but on the other side of the paved runway 1/19 the grass was very bumpy last I knew. Maybe Jim C. knows. George

Grass is smooth, was rolled this spring. Don't taxi off the runway portion,
it gets somewhat rough and maybe some Badger holes.

I originally built 'er with the ol' Model A engine, but it proved to be underpowered, and unreliable. Three deadstick landings kind of got my attention !! The first 6 months of '02 I did a firewall forward retrofit for the Continental A65, and have been very happy with it. I now have over 300 hrs in 'er. Check out my web site at - http://nx770cg.com/ One of the pages has pictures of what I have done on my Tailwind.
Yep, I'm on both the Yahoo forum, too.
I'm camping at Brodhead for the weekend, but I think I'll fly up to Baraboo to check out all the Tailwind stuff on Saturday. Thanks to you & Jim for the info on the grass.

So, is the best grass 14/32 or 1/19 ?

Chuck,
Here is a link to look at:

I don't think you want to chance any grass other than 14/32. I walked to the Casino one time and had to stare a badger down on my way back... Taxi into one of those holes and you will loose a prop.
