I've just returned from a muffler shop after having the "tail pipe" on my NSI EA81's muffler patched for the third time. The fellow at the shop says the problem is due to the fact that the material used in making it is too thin for the heat being generated. Obviously the only stress on that portion of the exhaust is wind generated and what's produced by heating and cooling. I seem to recall previous mention of a similar or perhaps the same problem by others in this group, and was wondering if anyone had come up with a satisfactory solution. Does anyone know if the muffler provided with the Stratus or RAM conversion could be used without modification?
Thanks
Clem Nichols

Hi Clem!
I know us turbo Soob guys switched to new exhausts.
Not sure what the normally asperated ones did. But
you can contact RAM engines and see what a tuned
exhaust for your engine would cost.

They seem to do pretty well for quality. You may have
to complete the exhaust from the header out of the
cowl though. Not sure what they have for it. I only
see the header in the pics.
The exhausts for the turbo Soobs has a slip joint in
the middle to deal with heat expansion. I don't know
if this exhaust fits your engine, but, made for the
turbo, it isn't tuned either. Ours were made in
Wisconsin for about $500. You might do better with
the one from RAM.

Kurt:
Nice to hear from you, and thanks for your reply. I've posted an e-mail to
RAM and also Stratus, but no response so far. I hope all is well with you,
and your retirement is going as planned.
