When planning a trip to a UK airfield, I often resort to using Google Earth
to have a look at the surrounding terrain etc. Problem is it often takes a
lot of hunting to find small out of the way destinations (often disused WW2
airstrips).
Recently I discovered a resource that contains just about every airfield in
the uk. Just find the name from the list and bingo - an aerial shot from
about 2000' and its possible to zoom in and out. Like Google, the quality in
some geographical areas is not very good but in others you can almost read
the registrations of the aircraft on the ground. For the most part its
excellent and like Google is being updated and improved on a regular basis.
