For all those Kolb fliers that missed this Fly-in, "Shame on You."

John B and his whole gang put on an excellent affair.
-Great flying.
-Great food.
-Great people.
-Great place to sleep and shower.
-Almost Great weather.

The only down side I had for the Fly-In was finishing 3rd in the shortest landing contest with the Kolbra.

We had the following aircraft at Nauga Field.
4 Kolb MarkIII Classic's.
1 Kolb MarkIII Xtra.
1 Kolb Kolbra.
1 MiniMax.
1 Helicycle helicopter.

On Saturday for lunch, EAA Chapter 244 put on their "Catfish Fry" at the False River Airport that most of us flew over to enjoy.

Overall, Two Thumbs Up.

Gosh, John W

You forgot to mention meeting Dorothy, "The Queen of Nauga Field".

I think I can take John H next year on the shortest landing distance by:
- Eating more, so the plane won't roll as far.
- getting more comfortable with 2 notches of flaps.
- learning how to land with wheels locked. Strong rumor of rule violation?

We had the best time. Distracted a lot of folks, with a lot on their mind, in a good way.

Everyone home safe and that is the best part.
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Thanks so much to everyone that attended.

Planning the next event, stay tuned.

Kolbers and Kolbettes:
Finally got settled in back home enough to comment on the Nauga Field Fly Around.
As a "drive in" participant, I would have to echo John W's words about what a good time it was.
The Bickhams (John and Sandy .....mostly Sandy) did a great job of taking care of those who came. Their friends and family who came were equally as gracious.
Sample of pictures attached. (You'll notice that there is no closeup of Bruce C. He claimed to be in a witness protection program or something like that.)

Morning George:

Thanks for the photos.

We all had a great time flying, lying, eatin', and relaxin', at Nauga
Field, Star Hill, LA.

One of the best I have ever had the opportunity to attend. Now, if
OSH can do the same thing for this old Alabama boy next
week............................ Naw! Never happen.

See ya'll at OSH.

Camping in the UL Camping Area.

Will be flying a little in the UL pattern, and hanging out at the TNK
display in the main area.

Should arrive Sunday or Monday, depending on when I depart home.

Thanks for the kind words George.

Sandy worked pretty hard at the "good host" stuff. I haven't got the bill for that yet! She is in Utah visiting her USAF baby girl. If I could just get her to learn how to make a decent praline cheesecake. Wink

Nice pictures. If you have anymore, could you e-mail them to me direct? Still putting all the pictures together for a best of. Sandy has requested them. She is a "scrapbook" fanatic.
John H

Speaking of flying in the UL pattern. Sandy relayed the story of the Heli-cycle pilot (J. Little) going on and on about Kolbs stealing the show at SNF and about one particular pilot in the FLAGSTAR. With you just sitting on the 4 wheeler with your arms crossed, just listening quietly. Then John W stepping in with the TA-DAh hand roll intro, pointing you out as that pilot. Sandy found that very amusing.

I hope to put together a best of collection for the gathering. John H, hands down you got the "best quote of the weekend". Something to do with cards!

One of the nice things about Nauga Field is that Kolbs are one of the few planes that can use it. Keeps the heavy iron and the rift raft out! Small is better!
Thanks too much for coming.
