I have an Allegro 2000 LSA with a 912UL. 50 hours TT
When I switch off the auxiliary electrical fuel pump the instrument reading drops to nearly 0 before coming up again very slowly but doesn’t read quite 0.2 with the mechanical pump. This happens in flight.
On the ground during or before run up the reading drops less to about 0.15 with mechanical pump only. seem awful low though ??
Is this a reason for concern ??
Thanks

Please give us more details :
- What instrument ? Fuel flow, fuel pressure ?
- What type instrument ? Dial gauge ? EIS ?
- What units are you using ?
- Where are the sensor(s) located ? What type ?
- What fuel supply architeture ? Return line ? Low wing tanks ? High
wing tanks ? Fuselage tank?
- What type of fuel lines, metal, hose ? Length ?
- Etc..

Fuselage Tank
All other parameters I have to check next time at the airport.
Thanks

Bernhard10,
The 912UL engine needs the minimum fuel pressure specified by Rotax to
keep the float chambers at the correct level under normal flight
conditions. If it does not get the required fuel pressure and the float
level starts dropping, the engine will begin to lean out and will quit
when it no longer gets sufficient fuel. If this is a condition you want
to avoid (I certainly would) then this would be cause for "concern".
It is possible that your fuel pressure gauge is bad (unlikely in my
opinion). It is also possible that your mechanical fuel pump is bad
(more likely in my opinion). In either case I would check out both of
them before flying again.
It seems you are looking for someone to tell you this is not a problem
because you asked the same question on the Allegro List to which I
responded in a similar fashion. You may actually find someone to tell
you that. If you keep looking you probably will. Good luck with your
search for a Pollyanna. Fuel starvation for various reasons is the
number one cause of power loss accidents in the NTSB accident report
database.

Bernhard,
The 912S installation manual is really worth downloading from
http://www.kodiakbs.com
It states that the nominal fuel pressure is 0.3 bar, and should stay in
the 0.15-0.4 bar range (2.2-5.8 psi for the metrically challenged
The units are always printed on the gauge dial.

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Bernhard, one more point of fact added to Thom's response and that would be you should go to www.Rotax.com and read the service bulletin on the 912 fuel pump your model number may be in question
