Guys & Gals:
Does anyone out there know or recommend interior upholstery for the 601 XL besides the FlightCrafter package? We object to the feel of fine leather. Thanks.

My sarcasm meter isn't functioning as it should. Probably because it is Monday. So just stop reading when you get to the answer that suits.
A. I understand your desire not to use animal skin for the covering of your seats. Don't worry it ain't real leather.
B. I hate faux leather too. I'm getting my local auto upholstery guy to get me some samples of durable fabric. I'm really interested to see if he can get the stuff that is in my Honda Ridgeline. I'd suggest you stop by the local Honda dealer and see what I mean. It is tough and I recently took a 12 hour drive to FLA and it never got uncomfortable.
C. I've thought about having the guy mentioned in B to make me some out of good leather.

They used some sort of Naugahyde on mine. Has to end the lives of hundreds of little helpless Naugas but it was worth the sacrifice.

I have the flight crafters interior and it looks and feels great. I have not
finished the plane yet so I can't speak about the feel when sitting under a
bubble canopy in Florida heat but I suspect it will be much like the
interior in my car - HOT!

Wes, it really depends on how much of a self doer you are. I have built many hot rods and re did many interiors so doing my XL was not much of a challenge. I cut out thin cardborad templates for all the pieces, re cut them to fit from thicker light fiber board, affixed mounting points and padded and glued light fabric to the boards. Took a sweaty weekend. Between velco, double sided tape and a few screws I padded and covered most everything. The most difficult process is form fitting floor carpet over the heel pad. I developed a technique to make a form fitted carpet that worked out perfect. Best regards, Bill of Georgia

used ALCANTARA a very nice material also good to use when hot as you dont sweat on it and also good when cold and super easy to keep clean.
you should be able to get from car trim shop as it is used on many cars as OE
