At the new AMD Patriot web site, the phrase "The all-new Patriot 150, represented by AMD" is used.

I wonder what represented by AMD means. Is the plane constructed somewhere else? Is the design finalized? Why do they suggest engine choices from Rotax, Jabiru to Continental. Is that just an opinion poll. I wonder if it will eventually be available as a kit built. I wonder whether it uses pulled rivets? So many questions?

Lou

I wonder if the new AMD patriot is a model of AeroAndina SA from Columbia South America, a plane manufacturer since 1971. The model that it resembles is the MXP 1000 Tayrona. The specs are near identical to the Patriot and the appearance is to my eye identical.

What do you think?

Now that would be really interesting! That's the same designer who first designed the Savannah before it was taken up by I.C.P. in Italy....

Max Tedesco, the chief engineer of AeroAndina SA, is an excellent engineering designer and manufacturer, with a long history with Zenair. The 701 kit that we assembled at Sun'nFun in 1990 was built in Columbia by Tedesco's company.......

I have looked at the photos on AMD's site and the Aeroandina S.A. sites. The Patriot looks identical to the MXP 1000 Tayrona. Even the paint job looks identical. The performance data is identical except for fuel capacity and the fact that the Patriot has a Continental O-200 engine and the Tayrona has a Rotax 912. Amazing coincidence? I think not.

I suppose that the design has been tweeked for U.S. LSA requirements and the engine change, but still.....

Jay,

AeroAndia also has the following engines available in some of its models:

Rotax 912 ULS 100HP
Rotax 912 UL Turbo
Continental O 200.100 HP
Continental IO 240.125 HP

Very interesting. I hope AMD brings the SLSA to market and Zenith brings the kit version.

???

And this reaction was brought on by what?

Having watched this thread I found the info presented interesting. If it doesn’t meet your exacting standard there is always the DELETE key

BTW, how did you read this if you where in your shop building?

Isn't the Patriot150 actually the production name for the project given the temporary name CH750?

http://www.zenithair.com/news/ch750.html
To my eye it looks similar to a C150 perhaps thats why its called a P150
