I can not find a washer in any of my bags and am wondering what others have done.
Page 21-8 figure 3 describes the mounting hardware for the inboard aileron hinge bracket. There is an AN3-14A that attaches the aileron mounting bracket to the wing 'Inboard Aileron Bracket Assembly'. On the inboard side of the wing bracket, there is a A-1012 spacer that we make followed by a washer part number 5702-475-45 Z3. I can not find it in my hardware listing of all the bads and their contents. I do find this item in Van's catalog but there is no description telling me the exact size of a washer that I am looking for. I think it is something like an oversized AN960-10 but smaller then an AN970-3. Using an AN970-3 causes a binding against the wing mounting bracket when the bolt is snugged up.
With this item not listed in the hardware list, I am assuming that it was not provided.
I am trying to mount/trim my wing tips and need the exact mounting location (inboard-outboard) of the aileron so I can get the spacing correct.
Can anyone help with what you did or what bag you found it in?

Do you mean 5702-475-48 Z3?? look for that washer should have those. I don't
think there is a -45 Z3
Maybe you still have the parts from the Empennage? (look for bag#1145). I
have two not used that will probably be used when I do the attachment later,
that should give you a size to start with if you indeed do not have the
washer. Also if you don't.. call Vans they'll send you the respective
washer.

| You are correct. Fat fingered that one. -48 is correct.

I checked the bag 1145 and it only has the four 5702-95-30's in it. The -48's are on the emp somewhere and all of the emp is at the hanger (23 miles away). Guess I will look back through the emp kit plans and see if I can id where it is used. May remember its thickness and size, and might even have a picture. Have to wait until Monday to call Vans. This will be the second time over a weeks time period.
Had another problem that they took care or right away. It was an incorrect MS24694-S67. It is detailed on page 21-8 and is used to attach the aileron push rod to the aileron. It should be 1 9/16 long and comes in bag 1213. The bag and the inventory don't give the length so I didn't know it was the incorrect length until I tried to fit it. Mine were 1-7/8" long and tlhe threadded ends touch the aileron rib.
My fuselage and finishing kits ship this next week. Bet it will be fun finishing them out. My emp finished out with everything correct. Looks like I am having 2 problems with the wing kit. As complex as all of this is, it is amaizing how well all of this is done.
Thanks,
Gary
