Just wondering....

On the post regarding the FS02 for the sight gauge, someone mentioned that the redux in the fuel breaks down over time.

Considering that the Singleton fuel fittings mod calls for reduxing the finger strainers to the fittings, is it possible that this will fail over time and leave the strainers rolling around in the bottom of the tank?

Just wondering....

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

I noticed the same post and can't help but wonder when the build manual
also calls for redux'ing the strainers and scavenge pipes to the
standard fittings in the tank bosses...I've gone on (the perhaps
incorrect) assumption that redux was impervious to fuel (including
various formulations of autogas).

Last spring when I inspected mine (7 years in fuel) they were fine.

Hi! Dan.
My seat back gauge used redux and hasn't deteriorated. It did leak but
only where it was bonded to a plastic tube. I smothered it with some
silicone sealant and it has held, unlike my main filler pipe which chose
today to pop off the silly short connector pipe to the main tank, after
having been dried out for a year it has now gone porous having stood in
some fuel!
BTW spec for fixing the original finger filters were bonded in place
with redux to stand in fuel for ever !
