Hi!Roger
No. Not that I could tell. Maximum 5 minutes and the coolant is too hot
to make a dash for it! I'm resigned to accept that at present, since
when flying it's fine. I get words of advice that after 10 to 50 hours
it runs cooler anyway.
I tried the half choke setting in flight yesterday and it made no
difference to coolant temps. I thought running richer would have had a
dramatic effect since the guys with a mixture facility can control their
burn really well.

I meant for you to try 1/2 to full choke on ground to try and cool things
down!
Actual it is not a choke but an enrichening circuit. It does nothing much
/ above idle to richen things up! Thus your inflight test is exact as I
would suspect.
Giveratry on ground and please report.
How does full course and 2500 (also try 3000 and 3500) RPM do (angled into
wind) to help cool?

Can you give us more detail about your setup ?
Where and how do you measure water temp ? Radiator exit, radiator entry,
etc...?
Witch of the two CHT probes are you using, front, rear ? 100 F is
really not a working temperature for the the cylinder heads. You already
read that in a hangar on a hot day...
Something must be wrong....

I agree that 100F sounds way off. It has to be higher than that if the engine is running especially this time of year.
