Hello All You Zappers (Lightnings),

Kit #49 arrived at Ryan Field (KRYN), which is west of Tucson, about 3:35pm on Friday 21, September! We unloaded the various parts and placed the wings and flaps on stands and the fuselage on a blanket on the hangar floor. Seth was the driver of the delivery truck which was pulling the longest 3 axle trailer I've ever seen. I believe Pace is the builder of these trailers. They make them to haul NASCAR vehicles primarily. The wings were padded and hung on the walls. All of the other fiberglass parts were packed inside the fuselage and the canopy was taped to the fuselage.

Some observations:
1. The driver is the only one delivering the kit and it takes a minimum of three people to get the fuselage out of the trailer. I had to go ask someone to help with this. We probably would have managed with two but, we would have had to remove all of the items stored in the fuselage to do it and it still would have been a very awkward task at best.

2. There is no inventory document that comes with the kit! Consequently, you don't really know what you should be getting and what has possibly been left out.

3. There was no canopy frame shipped with the kit. Greg Hobbs, my dealer, said it usually ships with the canopy and rests under it when it is shipped. He did not know why it did not come with this kit as it has come with all of the others he has gotten.

4. I checked over the canopy and found that there was some rubbed/scraped area on the inside of the canopy starting toward the front right side and extending back several inches. I made note of this on my shipping bill of lading. I can't tell if the canopy is scratched or not because of the protective coating that covers the entire unit which has been removed in this location.

5. All of the other metal parts and such have not been received as yet. So... I am going to start on drilling some holes and doing some preliminary prep work. I also will be building a work table and a fuselage dolly for holding and moving it around the hangar. Hopefully the other parts will start to arrive soon.

As soon as I can, I will send some pictures of the kit and the various parts that have arrived so far. I'm not sure of the protocol for uploading pictures to the list but, will research it when I find the time. I do have a shipment of bolts, nuts, washers and other hardware that was sent previously from Aircraft Spruce.

Fly Safe............Bill
