I have heard from a couple of different sources that a Yak crashed near Chicago last month with 2 fatalities. Please ask around the Red Star community and if you get confirmation, let me know. This is something the RPA needs to be on top of, if its true.

Do you have any details on the recent Yk-52 crash in Illionois?

Happened at Crystal Lake airport.  Loss of power on t/o.  Two fatal.  Owner taking Flight Review in front pit; IP in rear pit.  IP was Academy grad, full career fighter pilot. MiG 17 airshow pilot, did lots of GA instructing apparently.  Both had flown this particular airplane a lot.  The owner had the airplane for some 4 years before the accident.

I must have missed this while out flying the bombers. To bad.

Does anyone have any verified info on what caused the engine to quit?
