Congratulations John! I guess it's time for some cross country. Tell
us a little about flying in New Zealand. I've heard a good bit about
Australia, but nothing about New Zealand. Is it practical to go
north/south to all the islands? What's the flying time between
islands? What's the flying time end to end? Are there lots of strips?
Is flying popular / necessary?

Thanks,

Congrats to you John. By the looks of the photo you've done an outstanding
job building it and I'm sure you'll have many trouble free hours of flying.

Thanks guys, yes it's a great feeling after all that time between unpacking that big box and finally being finished..9 years!
Here in NZ, it is said there are more aircraft per capita than any other country in the world, mind you there is only 4million people. About 1800klm top to bottom and plenty of nice mountains and flat plains. Kitfox dream land as heaps of strips about. Approx 50 klm across the strait between the two islands so plan to get a bit more time on the engine before I venture, but now that the distance restriction is off plenty of country here in the north to explore. We have a mountain near here, 8250ft and from takeoff to the top takes about 10min (on a nice day). Couple of times on the decent I've switched off and stopped the prop and it like being in heaven. Nice country airport near by with a long grass strip in case it doesn't start...but never a problem with a Subaru. Nice place to visit. John A.
