Any one have a set of 8 in. tires with treads. Need them for a Kitfox Model II.
Where can I get two.
What are some of you guys using in place or the slick tundra? Asphalt
will wear them out. Need two tires bad. (8')

Glenn,

Do a google search on golf cart tires. There are several makers and sizes available although none I have found for 8" wheels are smooth (no tread) or have a round profile. You can find golf cart tires with a rib tread just a bit smaller (18" vs the 20' originals).

Another is a Google on ATV tires. I found a couple of sites that give
almost every brand and tread configuration.

I use 6.50 x 16.00 x 8 made by Carlisle. We are able to get them at Goodyear Tire stores in Texas.

Last ones I got were $35 each. They are expensive to ship, but if you need help getting them I will do it for you.

I think my old tires were 16.5 x 6.50 x 8.00 golf cart tires.
Worked gear and will keep them in case i want to go a few mph faster.

I have the King fox tires on now - pics here http://www.cfisher.com/

If you want King Fox tires better get them now as Kevin is near out at MIPPI. One they gone there will be no more under 50 to 75 Each.
I think he has a ad on Barnstormers for 15$ each.

Do the King fox tires work ? Well if you have not tried some more radial off field stuff , well your Kitfox is likely begging to try it as they seem to be a perfect fit for them.

King Fox tires <THUMBS> from me . Videos of them here as well http://www.cfisher.com/ look for youtube link

Hi John,
The link you sent didn't work to show which specific tire you suggest.
Rocky Mountain ATV does seem to have a wide selection of ATV tires and
based on your other info I think you mean the Kenda Front Max. In that
size it meets the rest of your description. Can you confirm?

This link might work (if you're careful about word wrap):

I dont use tubes with either kingfox or the kenda front max 20x7x8 they work great . I do have a set of the kingfox that work great on the beaches up here in Alaska but do rub off quick when on the asphalt . the kendas do not rub off quick if your tracking is right on your gear .

Yes Kenda front max .

I don't use tubes. No leaks so far. I did use tire sealant around the bead though.

As Far as treaded tires, I would not use knobby ones that "could throw up stones etc. Golf cart style tires would be the most aggressive I would want .

Only draw back t o KingFox tires is with no tread you will have less braking due to skidding of tires under braking or Run up at times. But over all the "props" certainly outweigh the "cons" . They sure do add to the "fun factor"

Mike,

Unfortunately MiPPi Ultralights doesn't sell the Kingfox tires anymore. I think they closed their doors for good.

If you do find a set for sale, get them, especially if you fly off of grass. I love them because I can get into about 5 or 6 inches of snow with no problem and they make for a comfortable taxi. They are good in mud, puddles, and longer grass too. There is less breaking action but unless you are flying from a 600' strip this won't make a difference. They will also slow you down about 5 mph (more if you use wheel pants).

They are 21x12x8 I believe and I had a local ATV service shop mount the pair for $30.

The tires sold as Kingfox are Nankang. Check the following Link. The tires
are listed on the bottom of the page.
http://www.tiresunlimited.com/nankang_atv_tires.htm

Also Goodyear makes a treadless tire, but it is smaller in diameter and
width. I was planning on ordering a pair to look at them until my airplane
turned to scrap metal.

Regards.

Kitfox owners
MiPPi has 1 set of King Fox tires remaining, however a
couple of our dealers like Dave Fisher in Ontario
Canada and Infinify PPC (Sturgis, Mi) still have some
remaining stock as well.

Keep flying
