This is a question for those who have a 912 ULS engine and a push-pull throttle with a friction lock.
I removed the verner throttle and installed a push-pull throttle.
I flew it yesterday for the first time. It was hard to manage the throttle as the throttle springs would cause the throttle to creep open unless it was locked down tight.
Did you remove the throttle springs, install lighter springs or do you just have to get used to locking the throttle?
Any advice would be apprecated.

Floran,
I removed the springs on my 912ul, it is much easier to use now and more airplane like.
I have been using this for 8 years now. Just for a note, I also removed my chokes and installed an aircraft primer at the same time. It starts on the 2nd blade every time.

Floran, my first question is, why did you remove the vernier throttle? That is what I would like to have. I don't like the friction throttle and plan to do something about it. I don't feel like removing the springs will solve my problems. The springs are there for a safety reason. My real problem is that the cables are all messed up on the ends and it is not apparent that the cables can be replaced in the throttle cartridge.

Has anyone ever replace the cables in the friction throttle?

I flew a whole career in airplanes that had a push pull throttle and feel more comfortable with it.
I find that I can milk the throttle better when I am flying on the edge of a stall going into a very short strip.

John, where did you plug the aircraft primer on the 912? Did you use the carb balance tube?

Jacques,
On the bottom of the carb there is a barbed fitting sticking out. It has a screw in it and it just unscrews.
I used the normal 1/16th inch primer line for aircraft and installed it in the fitting with a rubber hose over it to hold and seal.
I installed the copper line flush with the inside of the carb, but before I did I but a piece of 20 thousandths safety wire sticking in the copper line and wicked solider into the copper. When this was set up I pulled the safety wire out and this hand made orifice gave me a mist of gas when I primed, 800 hours on it now.
I used a larger plastic line first but had problems with the carb sucking all the gas out of the line each time and causing it to run rough until it was dry.
