People say the trip write-ups are the motivation they need
to keep going. Well, I had a very motivating and positive
trip experience this past weekend.

The RV-10 is really proving to be one of the nicest things
that ever could have happened to us. I loved this trip even
more because it had some of my favorite weather in it...
some good IMC time without lots of bumps, and with a good
WAAS approach to cap it all off.

Keep building hard and you'll be traveling smooth too!

Tim,

Excellent write up. Very motivating for us. Your trip planning and
discipline are absolutely first rate.

Tim,
Good data. By chance have you ever done any cruise numbers without wheel pants? Since I know I want to take mine to some unimproved strips for some fly fishing, I would probably be removing the pants.

As best I can remember it seems that the speeds went up about 12-15kts
when I added wheel and leg fairings. I don't think you can easily use
the leg fairings without some mods if you don't use wheel fairings, so
you may lose that much if you have to take them all off. From what I
understand though, you lose more on the legs than the wheels.

Thanks for the reminder on the cabin top coming with the fuse today.
I always forget that....since I got my fuse and finishing kit at the
same time.

In our testing, you lose about 12-18kts by removing the wheel pants and gear
leg fairings. The higher number still had the brackets for the wheel pants
on, since they cause a lot of drag out there in the wind. This was not very
scientific testing, but those are the numbers that stick in my mind. Oh,
and I don't think we had the axle nut extenders in (if that's what you call
that thing that holds the main wheel pants on the outboard side).

Tim,
Another great, motivating, trip write-up. You need to keep them coming mainly to help Lana realize why I am spending all that money!

Thanks,

Thanks everyone for all the on and offline comments. It was fun
to take the trip and it's fun to tell the story. I completely
know what Dwayne means, as keeping the wife and kids understanding
that it's some day going to not just be a pain-in-the-butt-garage-
space-waster can be tough. There are great rewards to be had for
those who finish their -10!

Next scheduled trips are Nellis, probably Florida again with
different activities, and then perhaps something else this winter.
