How deep of "heavy" snow would you tolerate b4 putting skis on? Bear in mind the snow around here is usually only last a few days before it's gone or wet/ice?

I have been flying all week in 8 inches with King fox tires
10 " the limit..... though plus your tires will be less forgiving on drifts.

I have landed on several fields to talk with hunters this week but not in a ploughed field, that would be kinda rough on landing gear unless on skis.

When it's deep enough to cause a lot of resistance to taxiing, or causes the
tail to come up on application of throttle. Most aircraft will handle 3" to
8" of packed snow with little problem, a little more if loose powder,
depending on your tires. It's the slush of 4" or more depth that I don't
like. Glaze ice is even more fun! At least, that's the criteria I used in
Willow, AK when I lived there. I think most everybody uses their own
criteria because aircraft weight, tire size and ground pressure, and power
to weight ratio all play an important part in the determination.
