I just returned from the Light sport expo (at) Sebring ,Fl.Wx was lousy but there must have been about 100 examples of new Light Sports. The field is growing ! Saw the Euro and Apollo Foxes. They have really done some nice improvements on the Kitfox (at a price of course ! )
I highly recommend Lockwoods Rotax courses. I spent 4 days tearing down a 912 and learning the function of each item and how to do the carb sync, parts replacement etc.Dean Vogel is one of the best instructors I have ever had( including my 20 years as a military pilot and 20 airline) A first class operation. As a "newbie" I now feel comfortable with this "strange" engine (vs Cont/Lyc)

Dick,
Can you elucidate any of these? It would be great
information for the builders.

As a Eurofox owner, here are a few things my plane has that a kitfox (may not)…I’ m not that familiar with the kitfox so please correct me I mis-speak
EF has composite gear
EF uses a composite leading edge;

I have found that AeroPro and Rob (the distributor) are very conservative with their numbers.

The Eurofox is the 1st plane I have ever flow that performed better then book value. For me, I constantly see 1350 fpm solo (75lbs fuel) and 1000fpm duel on climb out.
Actually, I have a problem right now because when I fly solo with temps in the 40-50’s (DA=1500’), I have a hard time keeping the plane out of the yellow arc and my engine (rotax912uls) above the recommended 5000 rpm. I constantly fly around at 125 mph at 5000 rpm. If I encounter turbulence, I have to pull the rpms to 4750 or below.
Mine stalls around 38mph indicated (really a mush more then anything). There web site says t/o is 260’----if solo, hold full aft stick, apply full power, calm wind, make sure you nose over asap when airborne, ------that number is VERY conservative.
I think the 1232 gross weight thing is more a product of the European micro light then anything else.

If anybody has a specific question about the EF, let me know. I consider us cousins I guess.

James

Update---I went flying today and I was getting only 1000fpm solo. Outside temp was 33 and 2/3 tank fuel.
