Several of us went to Carthage today for lunch on the field at 5nc3. Pik-n-Pig was excellent. Great food, great service and cool ambiance, set up like an old country store/post office. Recommend it highly and rreplaces Stantons if you really want Q. Nice runway, plenty of parking on South side of field at restaurant. They now LOVE RVS and even asked for and got a low approach high speed fly-by w/ smoke. On Sundays it helps to get there before local crowds arrive. See you there. Reno

Bill,

Thanks for joining us today. You should mention that Carthage is not on all
GPS data bases so go to AirNav http://airnav.com/airport/5NC3 and get the
coordinates. The field is private, but open to the public. (Does that make
sense?) The CATF is 122.9 and not listed. The restaurant is only open from
noon to 3 PM on Sunday. Longer hours every other day. Call the restaurant
at 910-947-7951 to confirm hours or reserve a table for a big group.

Smokey

Thanks for letting me tag along. The food, ambiance, and hospitality
were all good. As Bill C. pointed out, how many times have you been
asked to circle back around and do a fly-by on the way out?

About the only problem I had was when I got home I made the mistake of
telling Nora that Kathy and Terri went along. Oh well, the black eye
will heal. (Just kidding)

Hi group. As a new RV-7 owner in Charlotte, and new to this group, I
haven't seen where many members are posting information about informal
flying, or get togethers. I would love to meet up with locals for
burgers, new places to eat, informal formation or just whatever. Hope to
see more posting, and to meet more of my fellow RVers out there.

You, my friend, have a lot to learn about wymynz!

Hey, I need a recommendation for a QUIET set of tires for the Miata. After riding as pax in Miriam's little go-kart today, I told her I thought she should make any performance trade-offs necessary to find some tires with less of a road noise signature. My head was resonating and my fillings spinning from the hummmmmmmmm of the factory rubber. Got a brand/size for us to consider?

We go in wednesday for our free replacement cat convertor. Thanks for that tip!

Welcome, Jim. We're just a little slow right now because of the weather. We thaw out in the spring Smile

How would you like to meet the locals for a little fly-out to Arizona for a week this summer? That's in the works...

Jim,

Send up a note before the weekend. I had no plans for today until Bill walked over as I was pushing the -9 out.

Bill,

The Bridgestone Potenza S-03's are a very good tire. Lots of grip and quiet. Be careful not to go with a high profile sidewall as the car will really feel squirrelly. Also, keep the air pressure up around 32 PSI for best lateral acceleration.

Keep an eye on tire rack and they put the Miata sized S-03 on sale every year, last time I bought a set they were something like $79 each. Of course my street tires were a yearly purchase and I was only getting about 10K miles out of a set. I suspect Miriam will get significantly more miles out of hers. To put this in perspective, I did manage to go through a set of tires in 11 miles one year. That was during my first track event and I managed to do that w/o even spinning the car. Just drove it a bit harder than I should have. By my second season I was able to run an entire series with one set of tires and still have rubber left while turning faster times and actually winning.

Bill

Cappy and Randy flew to the South Carolina Breakfast Club in Greenwood Sunday morning. Great turnout as usual, always an option every other weekend.

I will send you some information on the trip to Scottsdale, AZ.

Hi Ron. I've been flying a Titan Tornado the last couple of years, just
got my new 7 (purchased from Rick Gray in Ohio) a few months ago, and
loving it. Painting is scheduled in a few months. I have no experience
with formation, and just a little bit of aerobatics (loops/rolls). I
would be interested in ALL aspects of flying, and always looking to
learn more.
Also, in case anybody cares, I'm an avid fly fisherman, that's my other
hobby, and plan on flying up to Elizabethton, TN on occasion to soak a
couple of flies.

Hi Dan,

I developed an Electronic Fuel Injection Fuel System Monitor (EFISM) that requires no fuel-flow transducers or any messing/connection with the fuel plumbing. However, it is designed only for engines using electronic fuel injection systems which means mostly auto-conversions. (It could be adapted for any engine IF you use fuel flow transducers - but then that defeats the purpose and there are number of fuel flow/totalizers out there already that use transducers).

But, it is basically a system that provides all the fuel factors (Flow, amount used, amount remaining, time remaining, etc). It also provides an Air/Fuel Ratio indication on the screen as you adjust your mixture, you can immediately see the effect. You can set two alarms, one a periodic alarm (like switch tanks ever so many gallons) and a low fuel alarm. It also provides backup rpm and calculated power (based on fuel burn). It fits in a 2 1/4" hole and requires one wire to one of the fuel injector electrical lines.

It also provides the ability to view/change the Fuel injection fuel map or ignition timing if you are using one of the more popular Electronic Fuel Injection systems made by Real World Solutions.

This started out as simply a hobby - I wanted something to provide me with fuel information that didn't require two $300+ fuel flow transducers plumbed into the fuel lines. Made the mistake of showing off my "neat gadget" and then other folks started wanting one - I resisted for several years but finally gave in - assisted I might add, by my wife's believe that I just might make enough money to pay for my hobby {:>)

But, here is my URL http://www.andersonee.com its a bit slow loading.

Remove wingtip. Pass loose fitting capped pvc thinwall into a series of lightening holes spanwise. JB weld in place. Make darn sure this contraption does not come near your aileron pushrod stuff! Just an idea. Might also be able to sling it out of the way aft of the baggage bulkhead with same considerations for the elevator push tubes.

Consulting the builder (Rick) might be wise.
