Caution Rich. Even though the Ops Limits 300 NM proficiency area may be
rescinded, it did not eliminate the requirement to submit your annual
schedule of events or updates thereto. As ridiculous as it sounds, the
schedule of events or as sometimes called, annual program letter was not
addressed by the memorandum that was sent out rescinding the 300 NM
proficiency area. Until such time as the FAA addresses the annual schedule
of events or annual program letter requirements, we're still suppose to send
it to our local FSDO's.
Dennis

Craig Winkelmann and I are just beginning to discuss the idea of an RPA fly in at our new home base of Sanford-Lee Regional Airport (KTTA) 25 miles S of Raleigh NC.     We have 2 Yak52's on the field with Craigs newly restored Cj6 coming soon.
Sanford-Lee is an exceptionally nice, newer, airport with a 6500' X 100' HS  R/W with long clearways on each end and new FBO facilities.
If we can get an email show of hands as to who would be interested in a fly-in in the early summer please communicate with me directly at B747crew2006(at)yahoo.com. and based on the interest we will begin to develop ideas.

Rich,
If you find a new fly in or event that you want to attend ,after submitting
your program letter, all you need to do is fax the fsdo and tell them what
you plan to do.
You do not need permission to attend the event just let them know.

I'd be happy to come... Sans flight suit of course.... And bring my
original from the factory Yak-50 paint job with me. Only exception...
Have to go to Iraq in March and will be there until late April. Not an
RPA member, but will be glad to say hello!

Of course Dennis is absolutely correct and that is not why I am writing.
My question is: Has anyone had any personal experience with, or even
know someone who has been violated for breaking the 300 mile limit,
whether they were attending an official event or not. Just curious what
war or horror stories are out there.
