Has anyone had any experience making smoke [for skywriting] with a 582 rotax.
After seeing it done with a 912 [oil straight into the exhaust after the muffler]. I tried this and no success with the 582 . Also injected oil into the exhaust system immediately after the manifold . I have been told a 2 stroke does not get hot enough but I cannot accept this and think I need to preheat the oil [a mix of parrafin and diesel]

Michel is right, most of the RANS s9 and s 10s use 2 strokes 503,582 and 670 and all use smoke.
I have made smoke systems before and I actually got a new kit from Kevin Ridsdale at Mippi , You can contact him here

Kevin did have smoke oil in stock but you can always make your own recipe of ATF and diesel and whatever you get. The smoke oil is parafan based and works better. One common oil is form release oil used in the concrete business.
Now I am not sure of Kevin's business right now , I did buy up alot of his inventory of King fox tires. Contact Kevin and once I try this one out I can give a fair assessment of it . But having done them before I think this one will work OK.
Kevin recommended the Oil to be injected in the Elbow whereas I have done further down the pipe. If you get too close to the exhaust ports then you could encounter the oil sprayed being pushed back into the exhaust port and potentially into the combustion chamber.

Yes I am still monitoring, however I do not havve accesss to the site that you are sking about. I can tell you smoke systems and tires are what MiPPi Ultralights have hundreds of hours invested in.

Yes, if you want you could go to your kitchen cupboard and used anything if you want to make smoke, but beware!!! smoke will cause the skin on your fox to turn black and stain your plane. we do not want that to happen. To create the greatest amount of smoke you need a high concentration parafin based oil, as the parifin burns it will create somke and not strain. The problem with a parafin based oil system is that it is not cheap ( a very good manufacturer is MDW smoke oil by the name of "Super Dri" it can be purchased in many different sizes). The system created by MiPPi Ultralights do not require any preheater at all and the best way is to inject it directly into the exhaust the best location is the 90 degree elbow or just after befor the muffler using an injection tube to dispurst the oil in all directions.

The one with the gear down is a fixed gear BT-13 Vultee "Vibrator", so nicknamed because of the harmonics the prop generates at takeoff power. (P&W 985, 400 hp) It will shake windows a long ways away.
The rest are North American T-6's \ SNJ's (P&W 1340, 650 hp)
From a distance, they, "13's" and "6"s" appear similar, but are actually from different mfgs.

A number of gyro guys have done smoke systems with 503 and 582 with no
problem. The main trick it to meter the Corvus Oil so that you get just
enough to give good smoke and not too much so that it cools the exhaust.
I've got drawings of a good system back at home and will send them next week
when I get back.
You'll want to acquire Corvus Oil 13. It runs about $2.00 a gallon. It's
non-toxic and designed for use with aircraft.
