Hi all,

Just heard my partner flew the 18T last week and found the oil pressure gguage jumping between 3 and zero. I intend to go and check this next week but any ideas gratefully taken on board. I suspect it's a lead to the guage but certainly don't want to fly it until we have it sorted.

On another note, we have an issue with our altimeter. When trying to enter the pressure settings the subscale will sometimes lock at 990/1000/1010 Mb etc and requires a lot of jiggling to turn it through. Is there an easy fix?

TIA

Check the oil pressure regulator for foreign material.

Had the same issue with the oil temp gauge in our CJ. Was a loose fitting cannon plug at the sending unit. Tight on the ground, but would vibrate in flight and caused the needle to swing. A tie strap fixed it until the annual.

David H.

About 4C if I recall. Guy flew for over an hour but had the intermittent oil pressure for most of the flight!!

Most likely it is the cannon plug connection. Doubt it is the transducer on
the firewall. In my experience when one of those quits, it quits.
Ask your friend if he likes the look at stalled props while in flight and
dead sticking? Last time I looked at the EP's for the loss of oil pressure,
they read land as soon as possible assuming his flight was over land.
