I did the same thing.
For aestetics, I included a trim piece.

I overtrimmed my right aileron on the outside. I don't know what I was
thinking, just not watching the plans. Instead of following the angled
line on the very tip so that it would meet up with the wing edge I
trimmed it straight at the front of the aileron where the tip rib meets
the hinge.

The mess up basically only cut off about a 1/2 inch of the very front
edge of the outside tip of the aileron, so instead of a angled line that
meets the wing rear edge it's now a stright line that meets the rear of
the wing about 1/2 inch in.

I'm thinking it's probably ok and the angled cut on the hinge itself
will make it barely noticable. Any ideas? I'm thinking this is probably
not critical, only aestetic.

Good to know I'm not the only one. LOL. Did you cut the other one the same say to make it 'even' and add a trim piece to that too?

Do you have a better picture? I can't really see the fix.

Thanks

Can you cut the hinge at the correct angle?

Yeah, I was going to do that, just wondering if anyone else made this same mistake and how they made it look ok. I doubt that little angle on the end is providing much strength. It'll just look a little funny unless I come up with a way to make it not look like an imbalanced mistake.

I made the same mistake on both ailerons.
I didn't see the mistake until I fit ailerons to the wings.
I took a piece of scrap wide enough to get a rivet in on
each side. No one has noticed the patch until I point it out.
(or they've been polite)

The fix is not very noticable. In the polishing2.jpg the line
is barely visible just to the right of the first rivet. The
patch appears to be the width of the rivet head, but it is ~1/2".
I think that the mistake would be more noticable withou the patch.
It's easier to see a gap in the edge than a line in the hinge.

It's the only picture that I can find that shows the patch.
I see if my camera still works, if it does I'll get a closeup.
