It's made by international if memory serves.   460 F35 2si         2-stroke .  you might be able to pull it up on google

The 2si 460 F35 is a 2-stroke 35 hp engine made by 2-Stroke International.  They came on the scene a few years ago trying to compete with Rotax.  They're currently owned by AMW/Cuyuna.  Whether justified or not, the 2si engines acquired a reputation for unreliability. I believe that is partially correct.   Previously called Cuyuna, I think it's now called Two Stroke International  (2si).  Might be wrong though.

I'm doing an HKS installation and have a complete 582 FWF for sale.



1st $2500 takes it.



582 Model 90

200 hours on new crankshaft.

20 hours on new seals and de-carbon.

C gearbox 3:1

Mag end starter

Muffler.

Heater.

Water Temp gage.

EGT probes.

Regulator.

Fuel pulse pump.

Hey Mark,



The engine has sold.



As to why the HKS, I've been doing cross county in the Kitfox

(tremendously fun!) and the engine is not friendly for that.  Pushing it

for cruise it burns about 6 gallons per hour.  With 18 gallons full

tanks I don't like to do more than about 180 miles max between gas

stops.  I've got to carry lots of oil and bum rides to get high octane

car gas to avoid 100LL if possible.  Plus I'm always counting down hours

to the next service.  The overall cost to run it is over $30 per hour

and that's with me doing all the work.  The HKS is about half that.



On the plus side, the 582 does pack tremendous power in a small package.

As long as you stay on top of the maintenance it is reliable.  My Kitfox

is about 550lbs empty.  It will carry me (230lbs) and my instructor

(240lbs) and 10 gallons of gas up at over 600 fpm.  Solo I've had it up

over 13K feet (yes, I do have a transponder).  Level speed full throttle

will exceed 100mph which is VNE for the Kitfox III.  Fast cruise is

somewhere between 85 and 90.  I do have strut and LG fairings but

otherwise nothing special.



I'll lose some climb rate and cruise speed but will gain about 60%

increase in range counting reserves.  Plus I might not have to pull the

engine off of the motor mount again for 900 hours.
