Brian, Buz, Do you think Linda would be up for it?
I'm ready to do the transition training. Thanks,
Charles

Charles, I didn't even think of that, but Linda owns
a Lightning with probably the fanciest panel out
there. She would be a really good one to give you
transition training I think. Your insurance would
probably love that she is an FAA designated examiner
as well! Brian W.

Charles,
Actually Linda Mathias, Lightning N59JL, is not
only a CFI but also an FAA flight examiner. She
lives near me in the southeast part of Virginia. I
am in Williamsburg and she and Joe keep 59JL in
Wakefield (KAKQ), VA. We are about 2&1/2 hours
drive from DC.

Charles,
I do know that Linda stay very busy, but she does monitor this list. A few questions for you:
What is your experience level? How current are you? What have you been flying lately? What is your insurance requiring you do? All of these will have a determination as to how extensive your check out will need to be.

Buz- I have about 80 hours, most of which is in a
Beech Sundowner. My flight instructor, John Amundsen
of Gilbert Field, Winter Haven, can attest to my pilot
skills. He owns Tailwheels etc. and I did most all my
flight training with him. I did about 20 hours at
Manassas, Va and Potomac Airfield in Md. in Cessna
172's before getting tired of driving an hour only to
be able to fly for 1 or 2 and only flying once a week.
That's why i went to Fl.- for accelerated flight
training. I was soloing over the Gulf of Mexico within
a week. If I recall, insurance was asking I get 10-20
hours transition time in a Lightning with a CFI. I
would love to do the training in my Lightning, but we
are 38 hours short of the hours needed to carry a
passenger. I could travel to Linda's homebase if that
would be easier for her. Thanks, Charles

The John Amundsen you speak of, is that the same former U2 pilot? If it is, I used to know him from his days with Kal-Aero in Kalamazoo MI.
