Thanks, guys in the midwest - I was hoping we would have another
clinic this spring- looking forward to Rockford.

Also - I know most of the clinics are geared toward formation, and it
always seems such a stretch to get Sergei or another acro guy in for
Oshkosh. With all of the 50th activities this year I was thinking of
organizing and aerobatic clinic up here in the fall. Of course some
formation flying would happen, but I was thinking about a non towered
airport with an acro box over the field with back seat and ground
critique. I could get a few Sukhoi's and maybe a Pitts but the focus
would be Yaks and CJ's. The fall is gorgeous here, cool and sunny -
not like the heat, haze and thunderstorms in July.

Any suggestions, or comments.

Herb

In my humble opinion, when it comes to Russian aircraft, there is
Sergei, and then there is everybody else.

Just my 2 cents. Sounds like a nice plan.

I just spent a day and multiple sorties with Alex "gabby" Land to gain as much as I could from his exceptional training and talent in aerobatics in the CJ-6. Gabby was trained by Sergei, Patti Wagstaff and others, and while he now competes in more hard core aerobatic platforms, his airshow-ready CJ routine includes the most diversity of any I've seen in this aircraft. As many of you know, it appears that EAA will approve Gabbies 500 ft (currently) routine at Oshkosh 2008 as part of a larger RPA flight demonstration agenda - at Waycross, visited by Patti, she commented at what a rare opportunity it is for a person of Alex's age to get the approval for performing at Air Venture.

I have certainly not flown, or been on board to observe, any hammerheads executed with the precision this aviator executes at - and he uses techniques that I haven't seen before that help the CJ (long dihedral wing/limited slow speed roll/yaw authority) through such maneuvers.

We will work with Alex on an article in an upcoming Red Alert I'm sure. He is a busy young man with school, competitions and the like, but if you one day get a chance to learn from him, even in conversation, you certainly will walk away better for it - if not exceptionally humbled ...

my 2 cents,

Drew
