I am ready to replace the elevator trim cable in our CJ6, the existing
cable is frayed in several places.
I have acquired the cable from Doug Sapp for both front and back
sections which includes the assembly mounted in the stabilizer with the
cable pre wrapped..
Other than securing the existing cable with tape or cloth around the
trim wheels before we cut things loose does any body have any words of
wisdom before we dive into this project?

Hi Glen,, Gary here in Las Vegas.. Yes , I would set in the airplane
and draw a diagram of how the cable winds around the trim wheels, also
how many turns around each trim wheel, and also how it is routed thru
the airframe, this will be looking at the trim system from a horizontal
view as seen from the inside of tha airplane. I did this many years
ago, and I remember this worked very well when I reassembled the
system... It is a bit of work... Good winding... Gary...

Glen,
Take lots of digital pictures before removing anything. I did this when I removed and replaced the motor on my CJ and they were invaluable.

Glen,
Think Eletric trim, and save the hassel. A friend did his
Yak-52 several years ago, and I plan on doing mine when I
rebuild it next year.
