We have decided to camp at OSH this year. Are any plans developing to get spots in Camp Scholler or park the 10s together in airplane camping?

Yes, there should be a large contingent of us there. Bob and Gary have already started talking about RV-10 HQ 2008. Hopefully they’ll get there early and stake out our sites again this year. I’m sure there will also be a few in airplane parking.

Gary and I plan on doing essentially the same thing as last year, only question is exactly what day we’ll “claim our ground”. The past couple of years we’ve gotten the sites on the Tuesday before opening weekend. For some reason last year there were a lot more people there early and combined with the 20 or so RV-10 spots, we wound up with the spread out a little. After we get into April I’ll take a poll and then post exactly what we’re doing.

Bob

Hi Guys

My wife & I are hoping to be at Osh for the first time this year.

However, for weight reasons we are not able to bring any camping gear.
We would love to stay on the field with everyone else, rather than a
hotel miles away (probably fully booked by now anyhow). Does any one
know how we could hire a tent or something for a couple of days? We
plan on arriving on the Monday, but have to leave Thurs AM. I presume
there is somewhere to wash, & I'm sure food won't be a problem.

We are really looking forward to meeting so many of you that we have
emailed / talked to over the last year or so.

I was able to rent a trailer from Van Boxtel. They will deliver it from Green Bay to Osh for an additional fee. http://www.vanboxtelrv.com/  Their RVs (4 wheel kind) are a little expensive ($1,700) for the week, but their tent campers and travel trailers were reasonable.

This year I plan to at least get my camping spot on the weekend before,
if not the Friday before....adding a couple more days to the total
that I have to pay. I'd rather get great spots and be close to the
action than see everything too spread out. I'll probably do this
regardless of what the rest of the group decides, because I know that
when it comes to forking over $40-80 extra bucks there will be a few
who won't want that. But, I will also be willing to reserve some
sites early for a few people too. So we may end up with a situation
where we are split into a couple of sections. I'd just rather have
that than have us scattered around too far. As far as plans
go though, even April is a bit early to begin headcounts...since there's
really nothing that can be done with the EAA too far ahead. OSH is
at the end of July, so as long as we can get people fired up around
June 1, we should be good.

Neil, I'm pretty sure between the gang we can get you a tent and/or
a site. I even have an extra 5 or 7 person tent....a really big one,
that I could bring if need be. You'd end up reserving a single
site for it, which will cost more than the tent itself. But as
Bob L. pointed out, if you want more comfort you can rent campers
too. We'll help you out. If you want a camper, you may want to start
making arrangements early. For those with their own, not much to
do for a while.

You should be able to ship all your camping stuff to OSH ..... and ship
it home through whatever address OSH uses. I'd call EAA to get the real
scoop!!! If that freight company isn't available, maybe one of the
local guys can handle it for you. Tip well, though!!! Very Happy

I think this year may be my first trip to OSH, as well. If someone is
starting a list, please add my name. Not sure who else will join me at this
point. Also, not sure how I'm arriving, whether by land or air, but will be
camping.

As Tim has said, I'm a quick drive from OSH (live up by Appleton) and will be down there most of the week this year. If any -10 builders want to ship anything in advance, they are welcome to ship it to me and I can bring it down. Just contact me off list.

Yes,
I'll be camping at Sun 'n fun this year. I plan on showing up the first day (or the evening before) and setting up a tent. Will have my truck there as well. Setting up a corral would be great and I'd be glad to help stake it out if anyone is interested.

We just signed up for the last available 16' trailer (at least that is what I was told). We will pick it up as the delivery/set up fee was $400 big ones. Plan on arriving either Friday evening or Sat AM. and leaving Thursday but might stay until Fri early AM.

Getting close Mr. Green
