Hi guys, I realize I too have the aluminium grove tail spring Ei'm surprise to hear there has been breaking problems with them E Skystar did recommend it to me after I had broke my original leaf spring with significant dammages to the rudder EI just want to make sure it does not happen again E Is there any signs of fatigue to see it coming or should just go ahead and replace it anyway? I had a few rough landins with it, no problems so far
thanks

Jacque, I started the tailwheel spring posts. I have the solid Grove "spring". It doesn't appear to have any, and I mean any spring properties to cushion the tail in a landing. I am rebuilding a mod 3. I have no flights yet, but know what a "spring" is suposed to do, and I thought now is the time to make that modification. One post reported a solid Grove spring broke. I Can't see how that would happen unless you dropped the plane wingless tail first off a 50 story building. But, I do see how the lack of a real "spring" on the tail could transmit the shock to the fusalage frame causing frame damage.

As I said in my previous email. There has been only one Grove spring failure report here on this list that I'm aware of, and that was several years ago.
