G'Day Brian,
I've got many pictures here Brian, but I'm not sure how many can be sent on matronics, is there not a limit? maybe send me your email address.
There are three sizes, long at the aircraft end, 2" shorter for the middle and modified to clear the aileron. Can send more pics of these and drawing if you want.
Are these pictures any better quality?
Pete Disher

You have been sent 5 pictures.

I've seen several people ask the question about somebody else's email address. If the person you're interested in sending an email to has posted on the Matronics site, their personal email should be posted at the top of every matronics email. For example, here's what was on the top of the email from peter disher:
Flap hindge covers - 5 pictures for you
owner-lightning-list-server(at)matronics.com; on behalf of; Peter and Jan Disher [pjdisher(at)bigpond.com]

In this case, Peter's personal email is pjdisher(at)bigpond.com.  Maybe my email client is the only one that shows it?

Peter,
Thanks, that's what I was wanting. Those 5 pictures give me a good idea. Looks exactly what I sketched out for Lamont at Jabiru. It's basically a minimum clearance with sloping lines so that it's not harsh angles. Great job of fabricating. Also really good at sealing up that gap in the wing. We got the exact same stall speed with flaps in the up position. With them in the down position I would expect that stall speed will increase slightly, but not much.  Takeoff run will be a tiny percentage more, but say it's 1.5% of a 500-600 foot takeoff roll, you're talking about less than 10 feet.  Control pressures were identical to the unmodified aircraft.  Oh, and the 6 knots gain that I got with our gap seal experiment on the Lightning was at a cruise of 2850 RPM. The trend is towards the faster that you go the more you'll see from these cleanups. Again, great job and let us know once you get in the air and start testing it what kind of speeds and fuel burns that you get. Thanks for the pics, Brian W.

oh, and my personal email is dashvii(at)hotmail.com (dashvii(at)hotmail.com) if anybody wants to email me.

Hey Jim and Mary, the email address is shown on each and every email. To send something to just the individual and not the list you must copy the address and write the email separately.

That was what I was trying to say but I guess I must have written it in U.S. English ( as opposed to English English) as my good friend from Perth is fond of reminding me!

Pete,
Your flap hinge covers were quite a hit in the last newsletter. I would like to do a follow up article (or articles) on the hinge covers and your flap gap solution and an overall story on your project. So if you agree, send me some words on the hinge development or fabrication and how you glassed in the gap area. Did you design and make the gap fairings or were you able to adapt some other fiberglass part to do the job. I am guessing you made them from scratch. Actually I see a market for these if you have any way to have them duplicated in numbers.
Also of interest would be your overall Lightning project. How you decided to build the Lightning, your thoughts on the build process, other changes you have made, etc. And how about the engine? All of these things would make a great lead article for the newsletter.
Thanks and keep up the good work,
Buz

No rush, just when ever you can get to it. I am going to try to get the next issue (April) out before I depart for Sun-N-Fun on or about 4 April. So lets aim for the May issue.
