Just in case any of you are interested, here's a pilots eye view of an
emergency landing that didn't go so well. I you watch the head up display
(HUD) you can see his heading, airspeed, and altitude fairly clearly
throughout the approach.

Kitfoxers,
I forwarded Deke's letter to my son, Mark, who flew F15s for several years.
You might find his comments below add a little. I found nothing on the link
about the fate of the pilot. Did I just miss it? Does anyone know?

The F15 uses a 0-0 ejection system and ejected safely. If you go to the
site and scroll down you can read the comments. A lot of arm chair quarter
backing criticizing the situation when not enough information was present.
I thought, considering the ramifications of it all, he handled it very well.
