Good comeback Leonard ! Laughed my butt off ! Please excuse me guys. I am new to this list and to the airplane.I don't know alot of things about this aircraft, but I will. I have the original wheels(chrome) which I assume are Douglas one piece wheels. The shaved tires I have on them are ATV 20x7x8 and I would like to replace them as they are rather "long in the tooth" .I liked the look of the KingFox tires and now that I know that the Nanking tires are the same,I will order them.My only other questions are:
    1. Will they fit the stock wheels with no problem?
    2. Do I need tubes and will the stems shear off do to low pressure and
tire/tube movement or is this a minor problem. Would a bead adhesive as used in jeeps help.

I don't fly off rough ground. My airstrip is grass so I won't be in the bush.( except when the people at the airpark get in a pissing contest over who is going to mow the grass which happens often) Occasionally I fly off of pavement. And besides, these tires look cool!
I am sending my elevator off to a small company to have an elevator trim installed. They will skin the elevator, reweld the tubing and install the trim servo/tab and then cover & paint back to silver. I am tired of the continuous back pressure required on approach. (lazy butt I guess) Also my oil pressure gauge is 12 lbs off so it will go back to Westburg and finally I can install the Nanking tires.

Hi Dick-
I think you'll find that the Douglas wheels are not really chromed,
but polished aluminum...I might be wrong, but my two pairs are both
polished aluminum, and both one-piece.
By the way, Dick, I got my TruTrak ADI, and have it
installed...thanks for your input several weeks ago.

I have the Kingfox tires on my MK IV and they fit on the Douglas wheels just fine. I don't have tubes in them, but I do have slow leaks that I can't get rid of if I run at rather low pressure. Tubes might be a good idea, but there is the extra weight and $. Jim Chuk Avids, Mn

Grumpy Guss has a slow leak in one of his tires also when run at anything under 8 PSI. I would think that using a bead sealant would take care of it. If you are just landing on grass strips, with the occasional runway landing, you may want to stick with the higher pressure. If you are running low pressure, you better be on your toes when you touch down on pavement or asphalt as they will grab and roll on you making for an interesting ride.

My first flight was in a PA-12 with 31" air streaks at 2 PSI. My first landing was on asphalt. I had to buy the instructor a new pair of jeans when that ride was over. After that I stuck to grass strips and off airport landings with that plane. Now it is not a big deal unless you have a cross wind to deal with.

Grumpy Guss's brothers kids dont play fair. lol .

Douglas wheels are not chrome just aluminum. King fox tires are great on sand rocks grass and work great on the runway also. Yes mine have a small leak but i cannot find from where I used a bead sealant and still did not help. Just run around 6-8 pounds and you have a great off airport tire.

Wheels are spun aluminum.
not one piece but 2 halves welded in centre .

Mine do not leak but i use high quality bead sealer. I did use dish soap and found that one would leak after a week or two. Go to ATV shop and get it done. I have my own tools for bead breaking and taking them off but if you don't you will take a while to change your tires. I can change two tires in under 30 mins including R & R from plane and de - mount and re mount.

Thanks for all the input on the KingFox tires ! I will get a set and try them out. I wanted the Alaska Bush 26 inch tires which I first saw at Sebring but they are beyond my budget.

Hi Dick,

I think the company that made the King Fox tire went out of business! or just stopped making them because of lack of demand.

Not true at all, The cost to make the next order had increased dramatically and would raise the cost to 60 to 80$ per tire.
So far Kevin has not ordered more. I bought alot of his remaining inventory and have shipped them all over the world in the last year. Tire sold great for 40$ each. I have sold out not expect for my ones I saved for my self .

So no lack of demand , just another tale of gosssip - like Rotax engines are junk as some of the public seem to think Smile <snicker>:

uhh dave... last year Kevin (MIPPI) came on here and said he was closing the doors and selling out. when they were gone they were gone. I talked to him several times and he told me the very same thing on the phone. he may have since had a change of heart but what Ray posted was a VERY TRUE statement.

We were considering the selling the large or the new 6" the retail cost have jumped to $85.00/tire, plus the increased shipping cost (fed Ex and USPS). At this time with sales down 80% it is not worth the investment. to procecced.
I sincerely thankyou for your videos and your support.

That is one of the reasons why he was not ordering again more tires. Cost for 8 " wheel was the same . I could sell 500 more tires this year easy. If I got them . Internet business is booming !!

I was reading the supplier going out of buss. part and you were reading the lack of demand part... we are all right in our own way lol.

At ANY rate, if the demand is so great then get them straight from the manufacture that we posted and keep re-selling them.
