anyone know where to get a flap switch--3 position like some use on the Infinity grip, but for panel mounting. I would like it to have a broader 'toggle' than standard toggle switch so I can tell by feel it is flaps. thanks

thanks for the reply, but I want a functioning switch 'like' what is on the infinity grip, but for panel mounting not on the grip. AT A/C they had switches for the grip. I would like the 'handle' on the toggle to be flat rather than regular round toggle. lbb

The toggle switch on my infinity grip, that I use for the flaps is a
flat blade type. It could be used anywhere. You just need the correct
part numbers, which I unfortunately don't have at the moment. But I'm
sure someone on the list has them readily at hand.

Apparently they're pretty hard to come by. You might try one of the A/
C salvage yards, such as Wentworth in the twin cities.
Some folks here have "rolled their own" with appropriate machine
tools. They slipped a "home-made" flap-shaped Al cover on a standard
toggle, and held it in place with a set screw. That's beyond my level!
We put our flap switch inside a cage-like guard and just used a
standard toggle configuration. It's the only guarded switch on the
panel - I think that will work well, and it's protected from
accidental activation in turbulence, for example.
Good luck!

On this subject, does anybody know how much power this switch needs to
handle when wired to the Showplanes FPS? I know the power connects
both to the FPS controller and to the switch, so a switch that is made
for 1A might not be desirable for a circuit with a 10A breaker for the
flaps.

type flap switch..

I don't know what the postioons are for the infinity grip, so here's

some suggestions.
Make your own 'flap handle' like a flap section, drill a hole in the
hinge side and use some JBWELD to hold it on the switch handle. You can
buy switches with threaded handles too. Google 'electronic parts'
..... jameco mouser allied digikey are all possibilities. You can get
flat handles ..... maybe 1/4" wide but I think you'd rather have
something 1" wide. Also, you want a round one (lollipop) for the gear
switch. Wink
You can also go to http://www.fletchair.com/ and order a flap switch for
a 2-place grumman. It has a center off, momentary (for flaps down .....
you hold it) and the other way is up (not momentary).

Remember that breakers are there to protect the wiring ...... the
devices connected to a 10A breaker may be very small current
consumers. However, this doesn't really answer the question either! Razz
