I was looking at the AMD site last night and came across a drawing of their fuel tanks. They have a completely different sending unit that is installed on the top of the tank. It also looks like the sending unit will sit under the skin without modification to the wing skin. I am wondering if anyone has seen this setup in person, or if anyone has used their sending unit.

Hi Larry,

Not sure if AMD uses a different sending unit, but in terms of placement, several builders including myself have chosen to place it on top for better access. Before you commit to sender location on the tank, I might suggest that you make a sending unit hole in a scrap piece of aluminum and see what is involved in installing it. I had enough clearance on top but if you don’t, you can modify the access cover as has been previously described by Phil.
