Many of you might recognize this picture.
It was featured in the Nov 2007 issue of EAA's "Light Sport Aircraft"
magazine, as part of an article one of our guys submitted to the
magazine about our annual Kolb event at MV.

If someone has of picture of Rick taking evasive maneuvers from the Drifter, I think that could take this thing.

There was some mild turbulence and at the moment I snapped the picture I was descending but that was just for a moment. I had no trouble getting across.

I have a video of that very thing. A stranger was shooting video and sent a
copy to Larry C and he sent me a copy. There is a copy on Utube some where
also. It looks like I ducked after the plane went over me. I had the camera
up taking a series of photos not realizing how close it was. It could have
been bad. I really was way off the runway. If there are any drifters there
this year I'm going to shoot from behind the fence.

You were lucky, he only got one shot at you. I had to fly back with him all

the way to Wells Nev. At that spot I got lucky and he convinced Arty that
going north through Idaho was a better route. I hated to see Arty go, but it
was a relief to not have to deal with him any more. I made it home in four
hours, while it took them two days to get home.
Some people make you happy when they come, others when they go!

We say that our event is "Unplanned and Unorganized" but have never said is is without some kind of excitement.
It is scarier to watch the video than it was to watch it in person.

I always flight=planned with a highway map -- they put the roads thru the lowest pass they can find. Don't recall any problems in 6 trips thru the Rockies -- but went to 13K over Crater Lake once; great experience!
