Great responses to my inquiry on the utility of a battery bus (or not); thanks to all who contributed.  Confirms my suspicions.  I don't believe I have any "keep alive" requirements and I have a hot wired "pig tail" routed where I can readily charge the battery and/or power the avionics for extended periods on the ground, if need be.  No dome light in a slider canopy, etc. etc.
